If you’re a foodie like me then this blog post is for you! While on vacation in Jamaica I made sure to eat anything and everything I could get my hands on. I ate a lot of meals that I was familiar with in the Jamaican culture and new foods that I fell in love with. Most of the meals that I ate had rice and peas on the side with a stew consisting of meat, chicken or goat. Jamaican meals are full of flavour as they are seasoned with a variety of spices and herbs.
My favourite meals included curry goat, jerk chicken, rice and peas and fish! One of the most surprising things I ate while on vacation was ox tail stew. I wasn’t too familiar with that dish and I was presently surprised with its flavour. Another food item that I enjoyed was bammy. I had no idea what it was and ate it a couple of times for breakfast. Bammy or bami is a traditional Jamaican cassava flatbread that is hard on the outside with a firm texture once you bite into it. I enjoyed eating it for breakfast as it reminded me of toast. Everything I ate while on vacation was delicious!
