5 Reasons You Should Try Pilates

If you’ve been following for me online for awhile, especially my Instagram stories and YouTube channel you’d know that I’m obsessed with Pilates! I discovered this form of fitness last year in 2022 when I was desperate for a change in my lifestyle and fit life. I got what I was looking for. If you get the chance, run don’t walk to try out a Pilates class. It will change your life!

It was around the middle of the year when I signed up for my first hot Pilates class and the type that I am into is the one on the mat the room is heated up to 35°C and you are there working –  working very hard. The reason why I got into Pilates was because I needed something new. I’m and will forever be a gym girl but I needed to switch up my routine especially because I was noticing that I had a bit of a stitch in my lower back that wasn’t going away and I had to find a way to incorporate workouts that enables me to stretch, lengthen and use my body in different ways.

Pilates is a form of exercise that was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. It’s a low-impact form of exercise that focuses on improving flexibility, strength, and control in the body. The benefits that I’ve gotten from this for of exercise is astounding and I’m committed.

These are, from my experience 5 key benefits to Pilates. See below why you should consider giving it a try.

  1. Improved flexibility. Pilates can help you increase your range of motion and improve your flexibility, which can reduce the risk of injury and improve your performance in other physical activities.
  2. Increased strength. Pilates exercises can help you build strength in your core muscles, as well as in your arms and legs. Stronger muscles can help you maintain good posture and improve your balance and stability.
  3. Better body awareness. Pilates encourages you to focus on your breath and your movements, which can help you develop a greater awareness of your body and how it moves.
  4. Stress relief. The breathing and concentration techniques used in Pilates can help you relax and de-stress, improving your overall well-being.
  5. Improved posture. Pilates can help you correct imbalances in your body and improve your posture, leading to a more confident and upright appearance.

Given all of these benefits is no wonder why I’m obsessed and hooked! Be sure to follow my Instagram account @simplyEseeri to get peeks into my Pilates workouts.
