Capsule wardrobe try on

Hello fellow fashion lovers! At the start of the year I went to Nordstrom and spoiled myself and splurged on a new minimalist inspired capsule wardrobe. For the past few years, I’ve wanted to update my wardrobe but in a way that would allow me to mix and match pieces, while also having the opportunity to include them with previous clothing and accessory items.

Thanks to a recommendation from a friend, I was encouraged to take advantage of Nordstrom’s free styling session and booked an appointment with a stylist. While planning for this fun shopping spree, I was nervous yet excited to have the opportunity to update my closet. This was a new opportunity to update my style and overall vision for myself. Personally, I think fashion is more than just how you look. It’s a reflection of who you are, and how you may be feeling in life. It’s a great way to express yourself!

If you’re planning on having a similar experience I’d suggest you consider the 6 following tips:

  • Be honest with yourself and love your body as is! This is so important as you will have to share your size and measurements with your stylist so they can choose clothes that fit your body.
  • Consult with a stylist first to make sure your styling visions align. They need to know what you’d like to achieve with the session, and it’s important to share your dealbreakers. Make sure you feel comfortable with him/her as they will be selecting clothing items and accessories that you will be trying on. (And potentially purchasing).
  • Create a fashion board so you can save and share your inspirations with your stylist. Check out mine on Pinterest HERE.
  • Be open! Change is good – be open to stepping outside of your comfort zone and try on different clothes, colours, cuts, and styles.
  • Consider purchasing items that you can mix and match so you can make the most use of your new clothes
  • Have a budget. Yes, it’d be great to have the opportunity to purchase everything that looks good on you but it’s also important to shop within your means. Create a budget and stick to it so you don’t go into debt.

Some of the pieces that I liked most are below. Note: I am affiliated with RewardStyle. If you choose to purchase with the links below I will earn a commission. The original price has not been affected with the links provided.
