5 step COVID-19 skin care routine

Hi beauties! I hope you are all staying safe and well during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are all going through trying times and the important thing is to stay safe, healthy, and to take care of your mental health. With that being said, aside from keeping healthy it’s also important to do things that bring your joy and/or gives a sense of normalcy. Personally, I feel a sense of self during these times by doing things that I used to do pre-COVID-19; and that includes my skin care routine.

Since I’ve been social distancing, I’ve paid a lot more attention to my skin care routine because there is time to do so. With that being said, my routine has actually gotten simpler because at this point in life I prefer easy and simple steps to get through the day. See my 5-step routine to clean, glowing, and hydrated skin below!

  1. Drink 3 litres of water every day. Add lemon, lime, ginger, cucumbers, or any other flavourings to your water that you’d like! This helps to get down 3 litres of water easier. Plus it adds extra immunity boosting properties to your water.
  2. Wash your face every morning and night. Currently I’m alternating between black soap, clay soap, and a shea facial soap bar.
  3. Exfoliate at least 3 times a week to help remove the build up of dead skin cells.
  4. Use a moisturizing face serum.
  5. Use a rich facial moisturizer or face oil. Currently my favourite item to use is shea butter, avocado oil, and Vitamin E oil.

As part of the 5-step skin care routine that I do to take care of my skin from the outside I also make sure to take care of my skin from the inside too. Drinking water is one of the steps. Another important step is being mindful of what I’m eating. My diet these days consisted of A LOT of greens including salads and mixed vegetables. I’ve been consuming very little sugar, very little simple carbohydrates (such as white bread and rice), and very little alcohol. My diet has been clean and well balanced that I think this has definitely contributed to my clear skin during the pandemic.

Let me know in the comment section below what is a step that you must do as part of your skin care routine.

I love drinking water but I only consume a litre a day. I feel that’s enough for my body.
Washing my face each morning using a light unscented soap (goat’s milk) is my first step.
Then I use my Clarin’s double serum. I allow it to penetrate my skin. Next I will use my Clarins moisturizer. In afternoon before my walk I will apply Clarins blue orchid oil. I find the windy conditions and cold weather are brutal for our skin so the oil keeps my skin moist. My nightly routine includes washing my face, applying Estée Lauder Advanced night repair and then Clarins multi active night cream. That’s my routine. I find exfoliation occurs when I wash my face.We have a similar routine.

Yes! Drink enough water for you. I’ve worked my way up to 3L. I’m loving your skincare routine. I’ve heard really good things about goat’s milk. And the Clarin’s serum is really good! I’m glad to hear that you follow-up with a face oil; I always do this at night and can’t do this in the morning because I already have really oily skin and I don’t need to add additional oils during the day. Loving your routine 🙂
