YSL Rouge Pur Couture the Slim Stud Collectors 2019

Hi beauties! I’m excited to share with you a luxe product review. YSL Rouge Pur Couture the Slim Stud Collectors 2019 lipstick in Rouge Paradoxe and Contrary Fuchsia. It’s been awhile since my last beauty post and there is no time like the present to talk beauty! I hope you are all have been staying safe and healthy. Today’s review is a long time coming. This lipstick comes in unique packaging; it’s not the standard YSL lip tube. Instead it’s a fun colourful oddly shaped (some would say) lipstick tube that is adorned with polka dots and the YSL logo. As you can see the colour of the lipstick package is the same as the colour of the actual lipstick inside. The lip product easily rolls up with a simple twist to reveal the lipstick. YSL describes this as a powdery matte lipstick with strong pigmentation that is comfortable to wear all day long.

From my experience, this is definitely a matte lipstick! As soon as you apply it on your lips you can tell. Upon application, I found this product slightly tugged on my lips; it did not apply soothly. As a result, I found that I had to swipe it across my lips a few times for even application. This is my first time using a matte lipstick with a powder-like finish. I’m not really a fan of this finish. I find that the powder settles into the fine lines of my lips giving it a not-so-appealing look. I also found this finish to be a bit difficult to use when wanting to create a crisp line on the outer corners of my mouth.

This lipstick is definitely pigmented! It was a pleasant surprise to see how pigmented this lipstick is. Personally, to make this lipstick suit my aesthetics I decided to use a lip liner and topped off the lip look with a lip gloss. The lip gloss really enhanced the pigmentation of this lipstick even more!

TIP: If you have a lipstick that you are having troubles working with try adding other products such as a lip liner and/or lip gloss to alter it and make it perfect for you. Also, don’t forget to exfoliate your lips for the perfect application.
