I went to the gym for 40 days straight and this is what happened

Hello fellow fitness lovers! It’s been a long time since I’ve posted a workout and/or healthy living post on my blog and I’m happy to do so featuring my experience of going to the gym everyday for 40 days straight!

I know you’ve read the title and think I’m crazy; don’t worry I do too! Lol 🙂 This was a challenge that I decided to partake in because money was associated with it. Yes, money was my motivating factor for doing this. I had the chance to win $1000 just by going into the gym for 40 days! If you’re like me, I’ve been an avid gym attendee for a few years now. However, once 2019 began, I found myself slacking; I was getting bored and wasn’t going consistently. I needed a motivating factor to push me back into consistently going into the gym, so when I came across this challenge I was all in!

I’ll admit; it was HARD. Going to the gym EVERYDAY no matter what for 40 days straight is not easy but I did it! Honestly it was a mental and physical challenge that I’m glad to have completed.

To see what happened from going to the gym for 40 days straight read below!

  • I became a master at time management. Having to attend the gym everyday no matter what else you have planned in your life makes you an expert at time management. You make time for what needs to get done!
  • I ate healthier. I noticed that the healthier I ate the better I was able to perform my workouts, as opposed to eating a lot of junk food and struggling to find the strength to get through an hour workout.
  • Sleep became important. I NEEDED sleep. Not only because I was sore and exhausted, but because I was sore and exhausted. Lol. I found that getting at least 6.5 – 7 hours of sleep each night gave my body enough recovery and energy to get through another workout.
  • I became strong. I didn’t know how strong I was until I did this challenge. Both mentally and physically. This challenge required me to change all aspects of my lifestyle in order to remain committed to getting into the gym and have great workouts each and every time.
  • I enjoyed the gym. At some point; I think it was at week 3 of this challenge I could honestly say that a habit had been formed and I once again enjoyed the gym! I enjoyed taking time out for myself everyday to take care of my body.
  • I lost weight. Of course I had to mention this! I definitely did lose weight from this challenge. The combination of eating healthy, working out and living an overall balanced lifestyle led to weight loss 🙂

Let me know in the comment section below what your favourite healthy activity is to do. Mine is walking!
