Saving Money in 2019

New year, new financial goals! If you’re like me, the new year creates a great opportunity to sit back and analyze financial goals. This is the time when I make sure to spend time to create a detailed plan for what I want to accomplish financially in the new year.

One of my goals this year is to spend less and as a result save more! This seems like a simple concept but I’ll admit, it can be hard to do. I’ve included some of my own personal habits that I’ve developed over the years and included them into my financial planning for this year. Below are 3 simple tips that will encourage you to save more:

  1. Budgeting. I budget for EVERYTHING. From my groceries to shopping for clothes; they are all budgeted.
  2. Documenting money spent. Writing down in a journal when money is spent is a great way not to spend it often! It’s eye-opening when you look over the amount of money you spend in a month; get’s you to stop shopping frivolously– quickly.
  3. Saving change. All the change I get from spending cash I immediately place it in a money jar. Last year I was able to cash in over $500 from change! This year I’m stepping it up a notch and I’m also adding all $5 bills I come across and adding it into my money jar. It’s a $5 Challenge!

Let me now in the comment section below any of your money saving tips!
