Church Aperitivo Bar

A couple of weeks ago I went out to celebrate a friend’s birthday at Church Aperitivo Bar locate on 1090 Queen Street West in Toronto. This is definitely one of my favourite restaurants to visit and this particular visit did not disappoint!

Church Aperitivo Bar specializes in mouth watering Southern Italian dishes. On this particular visit, we had the veal meatballs an an appetizer, I had the steak as my main meal while my friend ordered lamb chops and for dessert we both choose the strawberry tiramisu.

Church Aperitivo Bar - app

Polpette; veal meatballs in sugo and topped with grated grano padano cheese. The appetizer came served with 3 meatballs in a warm tomato-based sauce with a sprinkle of cheese. Upon first bite, you can immediately tell that you have fallen in love with the softest, juiciest, most flavourful meatball ever! The meat was seasoned just enough not to overpower the natural flavours of the veal.

Church Aperitivo Bar - entree

Costata di manzo; 12oz ribeye aged 45 days served with mixed mushrooms & roasted potatoes. Everytime I eat this dish I’m always impressed. This is not your average steak. I always order this steak well done; often, I find that some chefs have difficulty cooking a steak well done while still maintaining it’s flavour and tenderness. In this instance, the steak is always served to me perfectly! It is marinated, seasoned and cooked to perfection. Each bite, is tender and flavourful. The sides; mixed mushrooms and roasted potatoes are the perfect complement to this entree.

Church Aperitivo Bar - entree2

Agnello scottadito; grilled lamb chops served with peperonata & roasted potatoes. I had the opportunity to sample my friends’ dish and it was just as good as the steak. The lamb chops were melt off the bones delicious!

Church Aperitivo Bar - dessert

Last but not least, dessert – a strawberry tiramisu. Imagine the freshest cream, intertwined with the juiciest strawberries and lightly integrated with the softest cake and there you have the best nontraditional tiramisu. It was the perfect way to end a lovely meal!
