Clinique Stay Matte Foundation

Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free Foundation is described by Clinique as a patent-pending formula that absorbs shine, controls oil, resists sweat while keeping you stay matte all day. Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free foundation is one of my go-to foundations. I started using it a couple years ago when I was on the hunt for a product that would not turn into a streaky oily mess on my face during the warmer months. As a woman with very oily skin, I have high expectations for any makeup product I purchase that claims to keep my skin looking matte. And this foundation does not disappoint!

This product comes in an array of shades; it was easy for me to colour match the foundation to my skin tone. I wear Sienna, it is the perfect colour for me; it literally looks exactly like my skin colour and matches me perfectly. The consistency of the product is a liquid, but it’s not overly runny. It applies easily with a flat, rounded, or  kabuki foundation brush. I’ve also applied the foundation with my hands without a problem. Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free foundation does keep my skin matte. In my opinion, when I wear it I have a “naturally matte” look to my skin. My face does not look flat or chalky; it retains an understated skin-like subtle glow.

I love how this product feels light weight and breathable and it works well with other makeup products such as various powders and liquids. In hot temperatures it does hold up well like it claims. But keep in mind, like most makeup products, once you start sweating it begins to breakdown (especially if you’re oily, sweaty and in a hot humid temperatures). Luckily for me, since I’ve found the perfect colour match, it has not been noticeable when I was in said environment.

Like most foundation applications, it’s important to find a colour that matches your skin and to blend it well when applying to get optimal results. When I wear foundation (either liquid or powder), I always apply a primer first. A primer sets a nice canvas for makeup to go on. I’d highly suggest you try out this method as it will also help your makeup  to look great and last for a long time throughout the day.

Have you tried out Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free foundation? If not, what’s your go-to foundation?
