Carb Cycling – Update

I’m half way done my first month of carb cycling and I’m so proud of myself! This has been one of the hardest things I’ve done when it comes to my nutrition and I’m glad that I’ve come this far.

I’ll start off by saying that it still isn’t easy. The hardest days are when I have up to 3 days in a row without consuming carbs (such as rice, sweet potato or whole wheat pasta). On these days I surprisingly find myself eating the healthiest because I want to ensure that I’m providing my body with the nutrients that it needs.

On such days I mainly eat a lot of vegetables, a few fruits, nuts, chicken or meat, and a protein shake is a must!

Benefits I’ve seen so far:

  • The changes I’ve seen in my body from following this diet as closely as possible (I’ll be honest, I’ve cheated about 3 times), is that my bloating has gone all the way down!
  • Another benefit is that my digestion is working well due to the fiber I’m consuming from the increase of vegetables that I eat. My bowels are working regularly.
  • I make healthier food choices. One of the major changes I’ve made is not reaching for a bag of chips; rather I make my own version — kale chips!
  • I plan my meals. Meal prepping is a must for me in order to follow this way of eating and making sure I stick to it in a healthy way.
