Hi beauties! The sun is finally out and if you love having it’s rays shine upon you (like me), then you must wear sun protection! No matter how light or dark your skin is, it’s important to keep it protected with sunscreen and/or sunblock. I’m currently using Shiseido Urban Environment Oil-Free UV Protector to protect my skin from it’s harmful rays.

Product Description

Shiseido Urban Environment Oil-Free UV Protector  with Broad Spectrum SPF 42 is described as an oil-free sun protecting face lotion that keeps the skin on your face safe by protecting it from UV rays. This is a unique sun protecting lotion because it’s oil-free, water resistant for up to 40 minutes, and helps to reduce the appearance of visible pores curtesy of a special ingredient; Paeonia Albiflora Root Extract that has been added to the product. The sunscreen is non-comedogenic, dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested.

The sun protecting lotion comes packaged in a small convenient white plastic bottle and contains 30mL of lotion (perfect for traveling). The Shiseido logo, name of the product, ingredients and expiry date can be found on the bottle. To open, you twist open the top to reveal a nozzle that dispenses the lotion. As you can see, the product is a stark white cream.

Performance

I’ve been testing this product out for a few weeks and I like it! When I first tried the Shiseido Urban Environment Oil-Free UV Protector, let’s just say I was surprised. What happened was I generously applied the lotion assuming that not only would it appear translucent on my dark skin tone, but it would also work easily with other products that I use when applying makeup – such as my mattefying primer. I was in for a shock because it began to appear chalky on my face, but thankfully it worked out well.

If you have dark skin such as myself, don’t be surprised when this sun protecting lotion dries down to a chalky finish. Also, don’t be surprised if it not only appears chalky, but also makes it a little bit difficult to blend in your favourite magnifying primer. When this happened to me, I decided to continue my makeup application process and it went on without a hitch. The chalky appearance and dried patches of product disappeared after applying my power foundation. One of the things I liked best about this product was how light and non-greasy it feels. It truly is oil free and feels like I have nothing on.

Have you tried this product before? If not, what is your favourite sunscreen or sun block to use? Let me know in the comment section below!
