Hello! Before Winterlicious ended here in Toronto I made sure to visit one more restaurant. I headed on over to Trois Bistro for lunch located at the Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre Hotel. For an appetizer, I decided to go with the goat cheese fritters with spicy persimmon and cranberry relish.

I’m not a huge fan of goat cheese, and I stepped out of my comfort zone to try this appetizer out. I am sure glad that I did! This was absolutely delicious! The fritter had a crunch coating that housed a warmed piece of creamy (sweet) goat cheese. It was cheesy, but not in an overwhelming sense. The cranberry added a hint of tartness and acidity to the cheese that complemented the flavours perfectly.

Cedar plank roasted rainbow trout topped with a maple mustard glaze, winter greens, and smashed blue

As my entree I had the cedar plank roasted rainbow trout topped with a maple mustard glaze, winter greens, and smashed blue potatoes. As a seafood lover, the roasted rainbow trout exceeded my expectation. It was sweetly seasoned with the mustard glaze; a perfect compliment to the flaky, yet moist rainbow trout. It seemed as though the trout was topped with peppercorn, or a spice of some sort which added a hint of spice to the dish.

It was my first time eating blue potatoes. Honestly, they tasted like regular potatoes, but were fun to eat because of the colour. The potatoes were a creamy, buttery bowl of goodness topped with just the right amount of cream.

White chocolate chai cake topped with a berry compote

For dessert I had the white chocolate chai cake topped with a berry compote. This cake was perfection. It was sweet with a hint of spice due to the chai seasoning. The chai wasn’t overpowering at all and was perfectly balanced with the sweet white chocolate, hints of vanilla and with the berry compote. I have to note, the presentation for the dessert was so beautiful that I almost didn’t dig in! It was a piece of art that tasted wonderful. It was the perfect way to end the meal!
