Hello! This is my first restaurant review of 2017! I am excited to share which restaurant I went to for my birthday this year. With the start of Winterlicious here in Toronto; a seasonal restaurant event where select restaurants participate to offer foodies like me 3 course meals for an affordable price. I knew that I wanted to feast at Bodega Restaurant as soon as I saw their menu. To start, I had the blue crab cakes, with panko crust, tomato provençale, and ancho mayo. Dare I say these were the best crab cakes I have ever eaten! They were seasoned to perfection; the panko crust had just the right amount of crunch to compliment the flaky and moist crab on the inside. Let me not forget to mention the delectable ancho mayo that provided the perfect amount of creaminess to the blue crab cakes.

Braised beef short ribs, mashed potatoes, market vegetables, topped with crispy potato sticks

For my entree I went with the braised beef short ribs. They were fall off the bone type of ribs. Each bite led to pieces of meat melting into my mouth. The broth underneath the meat was just as good as it provided additional gravy to the already moist ribs. I loved the contrast that the market vegetables and potato sticks gave to the meal as they added a bit or crunch and texture.

Chocolate, espresso & bailey’s cake, creme anglaise, and raspberry coulis

A birthday celebration isn’t a birthday without some cake! This cake gave me everything that I loved; espresso, bailey’s and chocolate. I can’t even begin to tell you how good it was. This cake was so rich and lucious. If you are a chocolate lover this is a must try!
