Carrots for Glowing Skin

No matter how many skin care products you use, what you put into your body is just an important as what you put onto your body for glowing skin. I will be sharing with you some of the foods I eat for glowing skin; glowing skin not only on my face, but my whole body.

I would like to introduce you to carrots, they are not just good for your eyesight but for your skin too! Carrots are a root vegetable that are packed with vitamin C and beta carotene (an antioxidant that is converted by the body into vitamin A when consumed).

Vitamin C aids in the repair of tissue (including skin tissue), collagen (a protein that supports tissue development and repair), and it supports the immune system to keep it functioning well.  (Source)

Beta carotene is a red-orange pigment that is found in plants, fruits and vegetables such as carrots, peppers, oranges, and peaches. When metabolized it turns into vitamin A. Vitamin A is a retinol (which is also a form of vitamin A and vitamin A1). This vitamin is needed for healthy skin; it supports mucus membranes, the immune system and as we already know our eyes. Antioxidants help to stop deterioration. In this case, it helps to prevent (delay) the breakdown of tissue; if you think about it in terms of aging, it helps to prevent the development of wrinkles (the breakdown of collagen that leads to tissue deterioration and evidently wrinkles).

How do I use carrots as part of my skin care routine?

Using carrots to support glowing skin can be done a couple of ways. Personally, I take the easy route; I  incorporate carrots into my meals and eat them! I enjoy adding carrots to my salads (eating them raw) or as part of my dinner in a roasted vegetable mix.

You can also juice carrots if you enjoy taking them in a liquid form or go as far as using grated carrots and incorporating them into a DIY face mask.

Before you go off buying a ton of carrots to devour please keep in mind that scars, dull skin and wrinkles are a part of life. Many other attributes contribute to not having the skin of our dreams. Everything in moderation! If you incorporate carrots into your everyday life along with other healthy habits you will see a gradual change in your skin. Personally, it took me over 6 months to notice a change (I was aiming to minimize my acne scars) when I incorporated carrots into my meals as part of my balanced and healthy eating habits.
