Like many, I love being out in the sun. With that being said, my love for sunrays lavishing my face is not outweighed with protecting the delicate skin on my face. Recently, I heard from a dermatologist who told me one of the best ways to prevent premature wrinkles and skin damage on the face is by using sunscreen. Regardless of how light or dark your skintone is it’s important to protect your skin.

The Earth’s ozone layer is depleting due to the pollutants that we as humankind have put out in the atmosphere. As a result, the protective “shield” that protects Earth from the Sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays (but not UVA radiation) is not protecting Earth as it used to. Prolonged unprotected exposure to the sun contributes to skin cancer, facial (brown) spots, discoloration, sunburn, and premature aging such as wrinkles and sagging skin.

The best type of sun protection to use is one that provides both UVA and UVB, it’s recommended to be higher than 30 SPF coverage and water resistant.
I have personally been using sunscreen by Neutrogena. I love this brand of sunscreen because it not only protects my skin but also provides moisture benefits. Another reason why I find these products great is because they are lightweight in texture and wear, they don’t clog my pores and they do not leave a greasy residue on my face following application. Depending on how long I will be outside, I switch between 30 and 60 SPF, using the latter the longer I stay out in the sun.

Neutrogena Moisture (oil-free) SPF 30

  • Oil free
  • Alcohol-free
  • Fragrance-free
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Won’t clog pores

Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen Lotion SPF 60

  • Oil free
  • Fragrance-free
  • Broad spectrum UVA/UV protection
  • Non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores)
  • Non-acnegenic (won’t cause breakouts)
  • Water and sweat resistant (up to 80 minutes)
