MAC Prep + Prime Face Protect Lotion SPF 50

One of the most important aspects to my morning skin care routine is to apply a facial sunscreen. Regardless of the season, I always wear sunscreen to protect my skin from harmful rays of the sun. I’ve been using MAC Prep + Prime Face Protect Lotion SPF 50 for a number of years as I feel it work best for me. According to MAC Cosmetics, this is an antioxidant-rich lotion that protects skin from broad spectrum UVA/UVB rays.

MAC Prep + Prime Face Protect is a white lotion that goes onto the skin transparently without leaving any streaks of product on the skin. The formula is a bit oily and runny so a little goes a long way. This product can easily be layered with other skin care products, but if you have oily skin such as myself I’d highly suggest to try not to mix this product with other skin care moisturizers as your skin my become irritated and produce more oils than usual. When wearing this product, especially during the warmer summer months, I often wear it with my Becca Ever-Matte Poreles Priming Perfector to keep my face matte. During the cooler fall and winter months I don’t mind the slight sheen of the product because it provides a layer of moisture from cold temperatures.

It’s easy to wear MAC Prep + Prime Face Protect Lotion SPF 50 under makeup, and when I do, I make sure that my face is also primed with a mattifying product on top of the sunscreen. I then follow through with applying my foundation and powder.
